About the X-type profile
An X-type seal packs four lobes into one ring: two seal on the moving side, two on the static side. The lobed shape cannot roll or twist in its groove the way a round O-ring can, so it survives far longer on reciprocating rods.
Material: NBR – Nitrile
NBR (Nitrile) is the standard compound for general industrial sealing. It handles mineral oils, greases and hydraulic fluids, which is why it is the default choice in gearboxes, electric motors and pumps. Keep it away from brake fluid, and store spare seals out of direct sunlight.
Measure the shaft where the lip rides, not the old seal — worn rubber always reads small.
