Split Oil Seals
A split oil seal opens up and wraps around the shaft — you replace it without pulling the coupling, the gearbox or the motor apart. Available in NBR and FKM, in metric sizes, from one piece.

Enter the shaft diameter (ID), housing bore (OD) or seal width — in millimetres. Split seals are stocked in NBR and FKM.
Why choose a split oil seal?
A conventional seal can only slide over the end of the shaft — which often means hours of dismantling just to reach it. A split seal is made in one open piece: you wrap it around the shaft, close the joint and press it into the bore. On large or hard-to-reach shafts, that turns a full day of downtime into a short maintenance stop.
| Feature | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Split design | Installs around the shaft — no need to remove couplings, gears or the motor. |
| Less downtime | Replacement in minutes instead of hours, ideal for large shafts and tight maintenance windows. |
| NBR or FKM | NBR for standard oils and greases; FKM (Viton) for high temperatures, fuels and chemicals. |
| Metric sizing | Listed by shaft Ø × bore Ø × width in millimetres — measure and order, no part numbers needed. |

Common questions
How is a split seal installed?
Open the seal at its joint, wrap it around the shaft, close the joint, then press the seal into the housing bore. No shaft disassembly, no special tools — full instructions are included with every order.
NBR or FKM — which one do I need?
NBR covers mineral oils and greases up to +100 °C and suits most applications. Choose FKM (Viton) when the seal sees hot oil, fuels or chemicals, up to +200 °C. Our material guide compares both side by side.
Does a split seal leak at the joint?
The joint is precision-moulded to close tightly around the shaft and is compressed by the housing bore once installed. For standard oil-retention duties it seals reliably; for pressurised systems, ask us first.
Can I order a single seal?
Yes — one piece is a normal order, and parcels leave our warehouse within 48 hours with tracked delivery.
Split seals in stock, NBR and FKM
Every split oil seal in our catalog is listed by inner diameter, outer diameter and width in millimetres. Search the size, see live stock and price, and order from a single piece. Our split seal range covers metric shafts from 60 mm up to 300 mm, in NBR for everyday oil retention and FKM for hot or chemically demanding service.
Typical jobs are large gearboxes, fans, mixers and rolling equipment where pulling the shaft would mean days of downtime. If your size is not listed, send us the dimensions — we source special dimensions weekly.
