About the X-type profile
Four lobes give two sealing lines in each direction. The X-type profile holds a lubricating film in its grooves, starts with less friction than a compressed O-ring and shrugs off the spiral failure that kills round rings on reciprocating duty.
Material: NBR – Nitrile
NBR (Nitrile) is the standard compound for general industrial sealing. It handles mineral oils, greases and hydraulic fluids, which is why it is the default choice in gearboxes, electric motors and pumps. Keep it away from brake fluid, and store spare seals out of direct sunlight.
If your shaft measures a few tenths of a millimetre under the nominal size, that is normal — the sealing lip is designed with interference for exactly that.
