Engineered as a direct replacement, the Oil Seal 42x78x12 NBR TC (42x78x12 mm) seals 42 mm shafts against dust and moisture from the moment it seats in the 78 mm bore — common in workshop motors, helical gearboxes, vane pumps and tractor attachments.

Why the TC profile is so widely used
Three features define the TC type: the rubber outer case that fills small bore imperfections, the garter-spring-loaded lip that maintains contact under runout, and the auxiliary lip that acts as a dirt barrier.
Material: NBR – Nitrile
The compound is NBR nitrile, selected for oil-and-grease compatibility across motors, reducers and pumps. Note the limits: brake fluid degrades nitrile, and sunlight ages stored rubber — so store spares dark and dry.
If your shaft measures a few tenths of a millimetre under the nominal size, that is normal — the sealing lip is designed with interference for exactly that.
